From commodity to community: the next chapter

This month Nigel Akehurst visited James and Emma Loder-Symonds, who together run Nonington Farms. After more than a decade of pioneering regenerative farming in East Kent, they have begun a new chapter for the business. With the sale of the original farm and the end of their contract farming operation, their focus is now firmly on local food networks, milling flour and farming with nature.

Arriving at their Denne Hill site in Womenswold, between Canterbury and Dover, I park beside the modern grain store, where we begin our tour.
