And the winner is...

Nonington Farms wins first prize at the Bayer-LEAF Education Awards 2019. The prestigious prize recognised the efforts that the farm has built and continues to build a successful relationship with primary schools (5-11year olds) and makes a valuable and sustained contribution to school life, both on and away from the farm.

The winners were announced last week at a prestigious event held in Birmingham's Botanical Garden, where delegates from all over the country met for the award ceremony. There was a message from the Countess of Wessex, Honorary Patron of LEAF, who encouraged everyone to get involved in bringing knowledge and education about farming to all.

Michael Muncey, Head of Business for Bayer Crop Science in the UK said of the awards that "it is fantastic to see the sheer enthusiasm of people trying to reconnect young people with where their food comes from. Farmers, growers and other organisations up and down the country are doing some amazing work when it comes to making UK agriculture relevant to the next generation, and we believe it is worth celebrating their achievements."

The winners in the secondary school category were neighbouring school farm Brockhill School, and the winner of the innovation award, and overall winner, was APS Produce, another Kent based farm.
